Day 287 – They’re Back

The two fawns

The mama deer and her two fawns were back in our yard today.  I’m pretty sure it’s the same injured fawn we had back in July and she seems to be completely healed.  They’ve actually been back a couple of times in the last few weeks.

I was so happy to see them and see that the injured fawn was recovered.  The reason I think it’s the same family is that there have been no other deer in our yard all summer.  Plus the one fawn keeps running around like Likety Split did earlier this summer.  The spots are gone and they’re quite a bit bigger.

I didn’t want to go outside and disturb them so these photos were all taken through a window (some dirty windows).

As we were coming home, they were leaving. Taken with my iPhone.

How delightful! Nice to know that they’re all still doing fine. :)

I’m happy for you. I’m sure they’re the same ones too. We had a doe who brought her fawns around every year we’ve lived here (3 years). She was limping earlier this summer and a buck started coming around with the fawns. Sometimes the doe was with them. The last time we saw them was August 1st when all four were trying to bed down for the night across the drive. I feel sad that I haven’t seen them since.

Wow they certainly seem happy in your yard… that the even lie down and rest says they feel safe… so glad hop-a-long is ok and seems to have healed up well… dirty windows ??? I didn’t see any…

Yay! So hard while that baby was hobbling around and getting left behind. Happy ending.
